Meet Jannan

Jannan Holmes came to Fredericksburg as a student at Mary Washington College. After completing a Master of Social Work degree at Virginia Commonwealth University, she returned to Fredericksburg to begin a career counseling children and families. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she continues to provide therapy to children, adolescents, and families.

Jannan has served Fredericksburg as a volunteer with many community-based organizations including the Rappahannock Council Against Sexual Assault, Fredericksburg Area Health and Support Services (FAHASS), Empowerhouse, Micah, and St. George’s Outreach Committee and Vestry.

After volunteering in numerous capacities for the Fredericksburg City Schools, she was elected to the School Board, where she served as the Chair and Vice Chair twice, and Virginia School Boards’ Association’s Northeastern Regional Chair and Vice Chair. On the School Board, she worked to improve our school facilities and prioritized the mental health of our students by increasing the number of social workers from one for the division to one per school.

Jannan has since continued her service to our community as a member of the Fredericksburg City Council. She’s delivered real results, including expanding access to affordable housing, working to hold data center developers accountable, and creating programs to better support our unhoused population.

Now, Jannan is running for Delegate to continue serving this community. As a Licensed Social Worker, she listens to and solves problems for a living. She’s been doing that for our community for 30 years, and that’s what she’ll do for our families in Richmond.

Jannan lives in Westmont with her husband, George. They have two adult children, Noah and Max, who attended public schools through graduation at James Monroe High School.
